New Zealand winger Jack Wilson will be leaving the Sharks to return to New Zealand.

Wilson, who has represented his country at Sevens, was signed from Saracans in the UK just ahead of the Super Rugby tournament. He went on to represent the Sharks in three games (all off the bench), scoring one try against the Cheetahs.

According to Sharks PR manager Novashni Chetty, “the Sharks have granted Jack Wilson and early release from his contract to pursue an exciting opportunity in New Zealand. Jack was a popular member of the team during his stay in Durban and we wish him the very best for his career going forward.”

We can only echo these sentiments and wish Jack all the best for the future.

  • Good luck jack! Wished we saw a bit more of you on the field.

  • ja, I’m also a little disappointed about this one. I felt Jack had a lot of potential and we never really go to see it.

  • I sincerely hope that this is the last instance of us recruiting a player, only to effectively sideline them for the duration of their contract. Given that this is the Sharks, after all, that’s probably wishful thinking. In the words of our resident pastor, *sigh*

  • Another bad investment, spend the money but don’t use the players. When will the leak be stopped. Get murray and hoffman off the books too.

  • The handling of this player was to be frank pretty disgusting. Why sign him in the first place only for him to hold tackle bags while guys of lessor ability got a run. This guy could really have added value. Too late now…they should have rather not signed him and given the money to the beggars at the robots by the stadium

  • Why sign a player, and then hardly ever use him. Seems that the recruiters and the coaches are not in synch at all.

  • Why we ever signed this guy in the first place is a mystery to me.We know the SARU dictate that there be a certain number of players of colour on the field at all times.
Well the position that we have superb players of colour just happens to be on the wings,Oddie,Lawazi, Sithole,J.PP,all better than this white boy from N.Z.

  • look im cool with us having had him there and im cool with him leaving, we ddnt used him as much as i thought we should have, i would have dropped odwa (love him) for wilson at certain parts of the SR season but hey u need a reasonable amount of depth at all positions in SR incase of a injury crysis.

At the outside back positions we now have mjakevu, Sizo Maseko (on loan at the leapords but we can recall him), odwa, mvovo (at the boks, unlikely to play cc), fisher, chavanga (if fit)
