Hi Sharks fans. This weekend was a much happier one with the Sharks and the Boks winning, although from what the media have to say below, the Sharks will need to up their game to become serious contenders for the Currie Cup title this season.

Media:

“The Durban outfit were forced to work hard for their 33-25 victory over the EP Kings at Kings Park on Saturday, and Gold was clearly frustrated with some aspects of their performance. The Sharks boss admitted that it was a relief to get a win under the belt after their opening round loss to the Pumas in Nelspruit, but made it clear that he was far from satisfied with the overall performance from his side.” – rugby365.com

“The Sharks hit back with two tries of their own in the space of two minutes when first, Cronje placed a well-judged cross kick that saw Andre Esterhuizen leap above van Breda to grab the ball and dot down before Cronje went from provider to scorer. The flyhalf rounded off a well-planned backline move.” – rugby365.com

“The Sharks returned to winning ways after losing to the Pumas last weekend while the Kings turned in a vastly improved performance at Growthpoint King’s Park.” – news24.com

“It was the Sharks’ opening victory of this season’s Currie Cup campaign after their opening day loss away to the Pumas last weekend. But it was not the most convincing of victories and for parts of the second half it seemed possible the Kings could affect an upset.” – supersport.com

“After a shock loss to the Pumas last weekend, the Sharks will happily take the result, but there were certainly a number of nervy moments during the encounter, and some significant improvements will be required for them to be considered Currie Cup contenders.” – sarugbymag.co.za

“It was the Sharks’ first victory after their opening day loss away to the Pumas last weekend. The home team managed to stand firm in the closing stages and claimed five match points much to the relief of their supporters.” – rugby15.co.za

At this stage any victory is welcome, but you’re right, we need to restore the pride in this union.
