This Saturday, 22nd August 2015 the Cell C Sharks will be taking on the Xerox Golden Lions at Growthpoint KINGS PARK at 17h05. This match will be dedicated to our female fans, who have their own battle to win off the field against Breast Cancer.
The Cell C Sharks acknowledge the massive support we receive from our female fans and with August being Women’s Month; we have teamed up with the Pink Drive to raise awareness and funds for a cause that has a direct effect on many females and their families.
The on-going Sharks’ Making a Difference campaign also induces very strong sentiment to this worthy cause and it’s our way of giving back and throwing our support behind this campaign. We also want to create an awareness for Pink Drive, who do great work and whose vision is to provide a service to those in need and to advocate for change in the cancer space.
You can do your bit for the Pink Drive by SMSing Sharks to 40158 at a cost of R20.00. There are exciting prizes are up for grabs. We invite supporters to join us at Growthpoint KINGS PARK dressed in Pink as we show our support for the Pink Drive and the fight against Breast Cancer.
We are Supporting our Heroes, fighting off the field. You can be a part of it too, by wearing Pink to the match and SMS’ing your support for this great cause.

So the pink jerseys are coming out again?
@Dragnipur (Comment 1) : i hope not. let’s just hope they focus on the rugby this time plus we playing the lions 🙄
Pink is good…except when it comes to pink drinks. We don’t drink pink drinks, Dave!
But seriously, worthy cause…
I know I open myself up for serious abuse here and possible sanction, but these kind of activations really piss me off.
I have a loathing of the Sharks in pink,I have a loathing of any messing [could have used a stronger word] with the sharks identity. That ill fated Rugbyginners program is a good example. The T.V commercials made a laughing stock out of professional rugby players who looked like morons.
Why do we cheapen the Sharks image for anyone with R20 to spend.
I have no problem with the event my problem is when we transform the team.
Seriously donate the gate proceeds to the cause or a portion of it,but don’t mess with the jersey.
I don’t mind the change to the jersey. I admire the greater emphasis on charity from the Sharks. It’s a worthy cause. Just so much easier to accept the sideshows when the team is successful and winning. Otherwise these distractions just detract from the real purpose of a rugby team.
@The hound (Comment 5) : as far as i know nobody said the jersey is changing just a possibility
Don’t mind this at all. Worthy cause and if the Sharks change the “black and white” to “black and pink” for one day I really don’t mind. Was at the park when they did it against the Cheetahs and it was awesome!!!
Will definitely sent my sms!!!!
@The hound (Comment 5) : I agree in a way. Far too many distractions.
@Ben (Comment 9) : This is a very good cause, though.
I don’t care as long as they play hard they can wear their sister Wonderbra ‘ s as a uniform. Their identity should be on their hearts and minds not in a jersey.
@coolfusion (Comment 11) : well said.
@Ben (Comment 9) : players also needs to feel good and enjoy playing rugby for the results to change, this could just be a little thing to take some pressure off of the players as some focus will be an the cause and not the result (having to win at all cost).
Do they do the “search for the cure” thingy in South Africa?
I sure hope so, because it will be a glorious day if they happen to find the cure at Kings Park during a rugby match.
Who would care about winning on such a day?
Then next week they can support colon cancer.
I haven’t read up on it much but apparently there is treatment you can get on some medical aids like discovery a couple of preventive injection etc. And you don’t get breastfeeding cancer ever Hella expensive though. Also read about another cancer cure hope but only for very very rich. Government should force med aids to sponsor this treatment. Isn’t living a basic human right? But besides that. GOOD on the sharks for showing some good corporate and social responsibility.
@coolfusion (Comment 15) : Breast autocorrect to breastfeeding?
Sorry my point with my previous post is that because large organizations promote and sponsor these things it helps to get funding and focus on these things so we now have a breast cancer preventative treatment and some more on the way. So I support the sharks supporting this.
Pink rocks… 😆
Well done Rob!!!!!! Like the pink.
My daughter would love this site 😀
Nice one Rob!
