We all love picking teams, whether it be the best Springbok XV, the best Sharks XV, A team made up of overseas bases South Africans, whatever it is that tickles your fancy, this concept should get you interested.
Sport24.com has quite cunningly set up two team sheets of players not going to the World Cup, both from South Africa and New Zealand. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss it here. So all credit to Sport24 for coming up with this.
The two teams, called the Unwanted XV’s, are as follows and would make for quite an entertaining match! The funny thing from the South African squad point of view is that Marcell Coetzee is still not in the squad – what must the oke do to get mentioned?!?!

Quite the concept. Why not have a Unwanted World Cup? Pretty sure the rugby will be great quality as these players will want to show they should have been at the “real” version.
Is it just me or does the Springbok XV look a touch more exciting than their NZ counterparts?

And make the SA XV play against HM squad after they return from the world cup. They won’t have to wait too long.
Marcell is probably on the first plane out after the Samoa game that’s why he doesn’t make the list.

I think that some pre-announcement prep went into the article with the assumption of Marcell going, and Kriel the unlucky one missing out.
If not, then it is a Sport 24 ploy to really exaggerate the amount of Lions players missing from the squad..
