Sharks fullback SP Marais suffered a horror ankle and knee injury in training last week and as such will miss the remainder of the Currie Cup season.
SP will have surgery this week to correct the problem and we send our condolences on the injury as well as good wishes for his recovery.
Marais joins Khaya Majola, Wiehan Hay and Lourens Adriaanse on the long-term causalty list for the Sharks this Currie Cup season.

Ag no! That’s horrid news on a Monday… All the best with the recovery SP! Next year: bigger, better, faster!
All of the best and we hope to see you back soon!
I genuinely feel sorry for this kid ,he has had terrible run of bad luck.
Speedy recovery SP and the rest of the injured.
Agge NEE. Vasbyt SP – onthou “they can’t keep a good man down !”
Every ‘setback’ has within itself the fruit of greater success. Plan carefully and enhance your – other than leg – strengths !!!
I’m looking forward to an even better player next year !!!
That is bad luck. And he had an opportunity now.
Sorry to hear!!! Good luck SP and hope you’re back next year!!!!
Sorry SP. Wishing you a successful recovery.
Good luck with the recovery SP!
How long is Adriaanse out?
My biggest concern is… I dont see upwards curve.. worried about Superrugby next year.. dont see fix @ tight 5?
@ebenp (Comment 11) : ask yourself if you honestly believe a team coached by Gold can show an upward curve?
@ebenp (Comment 11) : Yeah, a fix of the current tight 5 looks unlikely…but if Beast, Coenie, Cooper (fit again) and Lewies are added to it, it does look better…
@pastorshark (Comment 13) : Oh…and we also have Giant for Super Rugby…that a whole extra tight 5!
