Two players who represented the Sharks at age-group level last year have opted to make moves elsewhere in order to further their careers.
Loose forward Sias Koen, who joined the Sharks as an under 20 player in 2014 and has made a very useful contribution to both under 21 and Vodacom Cup campaigns over the last two years has signed on with Griquas for the season and will represent them in the upcoming Currie Cup Qualifying tournament, which kicks off in April.
Prop Johan “Mees” Erasmus has opted to head a little further out, and joins WP under 21 winger James Verity-Amm and Puma lock Dylan Pieterse in heading to Perth to try and make a named for himself with the Western Force.
We’d like to wish both Sias and Mees all the very best for the future and thank them for their contributions to the black and white.

Can’t keep ’em all I guess. Good luck manne!
Who would want to be a wannabe loose forward at the Sharks right now.
Good luck guys.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 2) : exactly.
What new u21 players have we got in?
I heard that a wing from the Pumas has joined the Sharks u21’s. If it’s Benny then boy, what a signing!
@ChrisS (Comment 4) : you sure you’re not thinking about Zweli Silaule, the wing from the Leopards?
Good luck guys! !!
@robdylan (Comment 5) : No, not Zweli.
We’re up in Mpumalanga and heard that a local club player named Benny had been drafted into the Sharks junior ranks. He’s massive and very quick!
@ChrisS (Comment 7) : go dig, find me a last name, please
@robdylan (Comment 8) : Could it be Bennie Mashabane? Damn this looks like a big lad!
@the ko (Comment 9) : if it’s him he’s only 1.75m but almost 100kg so solidly build lad but he’s not a club player. He played under19’s for Pumas and was on trail (with other junior and club players) for a six months contract with the senior Puma side for this years Currie cup qualifiers.
@JD (Comment 10) : so if it is,then sharks have 3 u21 wingers almost 100kg: nkosi,silaule,benny.
@50shadesofshark (Comment 11) : and all three are fast! Good times ahead!
@JD (Comment 12) : Does anyone know where one could find these players’ times over 40/60/100m?
@the ko (Comment 13) : don’t think you’ll find that info as most teams like to keep it a secret.
Good luck, gents…and thank you.
