I know Toti, Rovers and Collegians won their games…Collegians 2nds put up 100 vs Rhinos. Not sure of all the exact scores though.

@the ko (Comment 9) : From what I’ve heard, the Rbay score against ballito was 30odd – 14…
@the ko (Comment 10) : My mate reffed that Ballito/ R Bay game…scoreline was closer than 32-7. Cant remember exact score though. he said Ballito were in it in the 1st half but R/Bay bossed the 2nd half
Who are Durban mets? Never heard of them before
@RuckingFun (Comment 12) : Durban Metro Police Club.
@SheldonK (Comment 13) : ah ok thanks
@the ko (Comment 9) : Thanks for those results…
@SheldonK (Comment 13) : Is there still a Railway (police) club?
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 16) : Not as far as I know. Well not in the Durban league anyway.
@SheldonK (Comment 11) : Just spoke to a RB player. He says the 1st team score was 14-35 to the visitors
@the ko (Comment 18) : Ah ok, thought it was something like 27-14…but i must admit i didnt pay much attention when he told me.
@the ko (Comment 9) : thanx for the scores! Pity Newcastle lost.
@JD (Comment 20) : Newcastle will struggle in the premier league, especially away from home. Their best chance for a win will come at home against the likes of PMB Collegians, Emphangeni, Varsity College, Jaguares, South Coast Warriors
@JD (Comment 20) : No problem. I think they’re going to struggle this season… Don’t have a huge player base and it’s their first season in the premier division. They can beat rhinos and South coast warriors though, so there’s a chance they won’t get relegated at least… I actually played against them a few weeks ago. Nice bunch of guys, hard as nails though!
@SheldonK (Comment 21) : Pmb have been relegated to our league, with Los Hug-you-are-es, Newcastle and SCW moving up
So Pukke comfortably beat UJ away from home in the Varsity Cup semi-final!
And now for Maties and Tukkies…come on Maties!!
Maties with a great start…win a penalty in the second minute on the 22 dead in front of the posts…kick for the corner and score after several phases…
Jeepers, this side has played well this year!
7-0 now after 7 minutes…all Maties…
10-0 to Maties after 14 minutes…
Maties all over Tukkies…now 19-0 after 17 mins…
Strategic break…19-0 Maties…
More points for Maties…22-0 after 29 minutes…
Tukkies finally score…Maties got a bit fancy there!
A 7-pointer makes it 22-7 with the conversion to come…
The conversion is good and it is 22-9 after 32 minutes…
Sometimes just good old concentration is the most important part of the game…
Maties almost score immediately again…the winger just bundled out on the corner flag!
Maties do score now…27-11…
The Tuks try from just now was changed from a 7-pointer to a 9-pointer…
The conversion is good and it is 29-11…
Halftime in Stellenbosch…29-11…
Maties start with a penalty early in the second half…that makes it 32-11…
Maties on the attack again…lineout 7m out…
Maul over as easy as you like…37-11…
Maties is just much, much stronger…
What with it being my first alma mater, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
Great kicking by Stapelberg…39-11…
Maties defend well against a Tukkies maul of their own…and win a penalty…
The game has become a bit scrappy!
I have seen a whole lot of Stellenbosch mates on TV though!
Gavin Cowley…wow! How is he still commentating? “Maybe the ball hasn’t bounced the way of Tukkies tonight…” They have been so outplayed…
39-11 after 68 mins…very scrappy second half…
Still 39-11…
Maties score again to stretch their lead to 46-11…
@pastorshark (Comment 54) : …and this is a he same Tuks that scored a century against UCT – yet with UCT the outcry seems to be “give them a second chance” 🙄
Another penalty makes it 49-11…
Well done Maties…pretty easy game really!!
@pastorshark (Comment 57) : They have looked good all season!
@pastorshark (Comment 57) : congrats on Maties victory! Pity they’re going to lose against Pukke in the final!
@FireTheLooser (Comment 55) : Yup…
@JD (Comment 59) : Good luck with that… 😀
@JD (Comment 59) : Maties have just been hugely impressive this season (except for the game where they played a second string side…
https://vsplayerthatrocks2016.pgtb.me/mqqjbd 2 ukzn backline players nominated for varsity shield player that rocks.bosch and buthelezi.
@50shadesofshark (Comment 63) : I choose Buthelezi…
@pastorshark (Comment 64) : only viewed one ukzn game.
@50shadesofshark (Comment 65) : At the beginning I watched a few…once they moved them to neutral venues and didn’t televise I also didn’t see games. To me Bosch did not play in almost half the games…so that makes it a bit difficult for me to back him for the award. He is good, but guys like Buthelezi and even Teddar arguably had more of an influence over the whole tournament…
Oh, I need to do this: MAAAAATIIIIIEEEEESSSSS!!!! 😀
@pastorshark (Comment 61) : @pastorshark (Comment 62) : hahaha ja good luck! Only support Pukke cause my sister’s kids is there!
@JD (Comment 68) : 😀 It’s all good…may the best team win!
@the ko (Comment 23) : Really? I didnt realise that. Didnt they beat (well draw) Jags in the promotion/relegation game last year? So thought they stayed in with Jags, Newcastle and SCW being added to the league? So Prem teams are Collegians, Rovers, Crusaders, Toti, Varsity College, Emphangeni, Jaguares, SCW, Newcastle, UKZN
@SheldonK (Comment 70) : Ya, that’s the league… After round 1 of playing each other once, they’ll be split into top and bottom 5, with those 5 playing amongst each other again, so 13 league games in total. I saw that on kznrugby.co.za yesterday
If you want all the fixtures for every team and every league just let me know ill email it on.
@the ko (Comment 71) : Ah ok, interesting change. Gives the smaller clubs something to play for in 2nd half of the season and then also creates strength vs strength which is good for the game
@SheldonK (Comment 21) : @the ko (Comment 22) : will always have a soft spot for my old hometown! Hope they can stay in Premier devision.
Newcastle are playing Rovers this Saturday in Newcastle
@Steve (Comment 75) : going to be a hard game for Newcastle.
@Steve (Comment 72) : Please, Steve. [email protected]
For sure. Rovers are pretty strong this year.
@SheldonK (Comment 73) : True. I particularly like the fact that they’re moving to strength vs strength after only 1 round of fixtures. It’s always seemed pretty useless for me that teams get drubbed twice in a season by rovers and collegians.
Watch Toti this year. Playing very good rugga. They beat Collegians and Rovers in the Flyaa tournament 2 weeks ago.
@Steve (Comment 78) : I can’t ever remember Rovers not being strong! Haha! Whenever we played them, it’s always been a case of just assuming the position under the posts and wait for the conversion
ha ha. agree. Should an interesting season….
What a steaming pile of pig manure….Impi, my heart bleeds for you, we was robbed…AGAIN! – this whole competition seems rigged, especially considering Tuks got away with a slap on the wrist for similar offense.
@FireTheLooser (Comment 83) : but remember the rules are the rules (except for BB and WP teams)!!!!
@JD (Comment 84) : The Hippocracy is astonishing.
@FireTheLooser (Comment 83) : Gutted! Do you have any details?
*sigh*
@pastorshark (Comment 86) : I’m gathering some details…. will write something in a few days.
Amazing how they caught onto this ineligible player a mere week before the promo/relegation game against Cup darlings, the UCT….just in the nick of time. 🙄
@FireTheLooser (Comment 89) : ja must say why now why did they not act sooner?!?!?!
@robdylan (Comment 88) : thanx can’t wait to read why and what happened!
@JD (Comment 90) : The “ace” up their sleeves it seems….keep it there just in case any of their darlings are in danger of relegation.
@robdylan (Comment 88) : Thanks…all the best there…
@pastorshark (Comment 86) : Let’s hope Rob’s article turns into a Panama papers expose of sorts…wish the Sharks would get their hands dirty and enquire into the timing of this.
On a day like today, it feels as though the Sharks have recaptured that “man against the machine” rebel spirit, that made me into a Sharks supporter.
Now just need to get James Small in the coaching booth, and we’ll have the perfect anti-establishment culture encapsulated.
@FireTheLooser (Comment 94) : hahaha ja that could work!!!
@FireTheLooser (Comment 92) : sure looks like something else was driving it let’s hope Rob’s article shed whom light on it!!!
