Veteran winger Danwel Demas is perhaps the most recognisable player in the Boland squad named to do battle with the Sharks XV when the Currie Cup qualifiers get under way tomorrow night.
Cavaliers coach Brent Jane van Rensburg (late of the EP Kings) has assembled a pretty useful 22 for the encounter, including a number of players with Durban links. Wing Sergio Torrens was a regular at centre for College Rovers during their glory era a few years back, while former Griquas scrumhalf Marnus Hugo, loosehead prop Francois Hanekom and replacement flyhalf Gavin Hauptfleisch all spent some time at the Sharks Academy early in their careers.
In addition to Free State fullback Nico Scheepers, Boland have picked up a pair of very good players from the Bulls ranks in the form of centre Chris Bosch and flank Shaun Adendorff. The latter is a Glenwood old boy to boot.
Boland Cavaliers: 15 Nico Scheepers, 14 Sergio Torrens, 13 Ryan Nell (Captain), 12 Christopher Bosch, 11 Danwel Demas, 10 Adriaan Carelse, 9 Marnus Hugo, 8 Zandré Jordaan (Vice-captain), 7 Shaun McDonald, 6 Shaun Adendorff, 5 Okkie van Zyl, 4 Hanno Kitshoff, 3 Basil Short, 2 Chadley Wenn, 1 Francois Hanekom
Replacements: 16 JC Genade, 17 SP Wessels, 18 Keenan Cronje, 19 Wayne Wilschut, 20 Jovelian de Koker, 21 Edwin Sass, 22 Gavin Hauptfleisch

Thats a pretty decent side for this competition. Depth is always an issue for Boland but if they can keep this side together they will be tough to beat
Going to be interesting to see how the Sharks do as this is mostly an unknown team.
If I remember correctly Boland is now managed with Zondach’s performance centre so I am expecting improved conditioning and coaching from previous years.
Still expecting Sharks to kick but
Shaun Adendorff – he was pretty good for the U20 Bok team in 2012. At the time I expected him to go onto bigger things.
@Bokhoring (Comment 4) : He was with the Emerging 7s setup for quite some time. only recently returning to the 15s. There are quite a few quality guys in that Emerging 7s squad.
It’ll be interesting to see how this goes…
@Bokhoring (Comment 4) : @SheldonK (Comment 5) : @pastorshark (Comment 6) : must say a bit strange to find him at a lower level team.
@JD (Comment 7) : He has only played 7s of late. Boland being closely based to 7s setup probably made an enquiry and he accepted a contract. Lets see how he goes. Must admit it makes me old seeing him play…ive known him since he was in diapers
@SheldonK (Comment 8) : OK that makes since as it will keep him close to the 7’s.
