Sharks lock Stephan Lewies has been called up to the SA ” A” squad to replace Franco Mostert.
Mostert replaced former Sharks lock Pieter Steph du Toit who suffered a grade two hamstring tear over the weekend.
Lewies, who has already been capped by the Springboks will no doubt use this opportunity to add to his tally and we at Sharksworld wish him the best.

Lewies deserved to be there from the start, so glad for him. Psdt held up longer this season than I expected
@Dragnipur (Comment 1) : It was bound to happen. I know he is not very popular on this here site, but you have to feel for the kid.
Flip feel sorry for PSDT. What a horrible time to get injured. Congrats to Lewies though. Hope he shines.
What, PSDT is injured??? 😯
And congrats to Lewies
It seems fitting that PSDT plays for the Stormers, as he is becoming the spiritual heir to Jean de Villiers as far as untimely injuries are concerned.
Anyways, all the best with the recovery, young man, and more importantly, congrats Stephan!
PSDT should never have played this last weekend, his workload this year has been immense. Gotta feel for the guy who is the form lock in SA. Congrats to Lewies and Mostert though, hope both make a good impact.
Don’t they normally send the Bok injured to Durban for their rehab,PSDT can take up his old berth.Seriously feel for this kid he is a exceptional rugby player,but his body just can’t seem to match his spirit.
Lewis should have been on the Bok list,love to see him in tandem with the Amish man/boy
LEKKER FRANCO !!!!
That is quite a loss to the Bok cause. Hope the recovery goes well PSdT!
Congrats to both Mostert and Lewies!
@The hound (Comment 8) : PSDT is unfortunately on track to become a wasted national talent due to his injuries.
For all the issues we have with Matfield and Bakkies, they rarely got injured and that was a major contributing factor to them becoming the legandary unit they were. all the best young man.
Re Lewies, love that he just gets on with things and keep on performing. I am sure he will use this opportunity to work his way up. Is Mostert not leaving at end of season?
Congrats Stephan!!!! Well deserved!!!
Guess it Provinces turn to pay for the rehab … Lewies should have been there from the beginning. Go for it … play yourself back into that Bok team.
I had this exact injury at rugby training last year, not fun at all. Hope PSDT’s recovery goes well. Congrats to Lewies should have been there in the first place
Am i allowed to say that “karma’s a bitch”
Congrats to Mostert. Probably the hardest working lock in the country and rightfully should have been there the whole time.
And for Lewies its time to prove what you can do
@Flintshark (Comment 13) : Province have already got about 2 years worth out of him.
@Salmonoid the Subtle (Comment 16) : hahaha ja sad but true!!!
@byron (Comment 15) : no but well said!!!
Hard working man Mostert. About time he got a shot.
@Flintshark (Comment 13) : Agreed. There are many deserving locks who can play Etsebeth out of a job. He has become one of those names who are there by default without actually earning it.
@coolfusion (Comment 20) : …but didn’t you see how he man-handled Lood, clearly he’s a brilliant lock 😉

Decent team
is it being broadcast ?
@revolverocelot (Comment 22) : ja not bad!
@revolverocelot (Comment 22) : Thats quite an interesting team…talk about doing something completely different. Surprised Mjekevu is back from the Kings, thought he would be training etc with them. Sithole at 13…Williams at 10…great lock combo but is it a sign that the Namibian is tired or not up to standard? Good tight 5 though. Not too convinced about the backline replacements though
@SheldonK (Comment 24) : could uanivi be injured?good decision by the sharks to let chili,andrews and botha play together.interesting selection of heimar at no10.
@50shadesofshark (Comment 25) : He could be, could also be rested as he has played majority of the games i think. Definitely a very interesting team selection. Strong tight 5. Backline could do well, just depends how they gel. Its clear that they wont play a kicking game.
@50shadesofshark (Comment 25) : @SheldonK (Comment 26) : Think he is with the Namibian squad for the June internationals that they are playing
@Henkb (Comment 27) : Ah yes good call
@revolverocelot (Comment 22) : Heimar at 10? I assume Inny is still injured then?
@vanmartin (Comment 29) : Just a question, have you sometime long ago resided in Secunda perhaps?
@Henkb (Comment 27) : tbanks.
Anyone got any thoughts on who JA will pick as the captain for the A side? Carr seems like the most logical choice to me.
@gregkaos (Comment 32) : i think it will also depend who the 4 guys are that come down from the Bok squad.
@gregkaos (Comment 32) : Probably be Whitely can ‘t see him getting a shot under Coetzee and he and Ackers are a team.
@The hound (Comment 34) : You dont think Whiteley will even make the bench? Assuming Vermuelen actually arrives.
@SheldonK (Comment 35) : Vermullen will arrive,so will Louw,Kollisi will get the third spot and the bench will be between Carr and Nothshe.Common theme blue and white stripes,only one missing is Burger.
@The hound (Comment 36) : Carr isnt in the squad though? If Vermuelen comes it could mean the end of his Toulon gig. So it could be between Whiteley and Notshe for the bench spot
@revolverocelot (Comment 22) : yes the game will be on DSTV SS1.
Was just on radio that Jan Serfontein is also out injured but apparently no replacement will be called. PSDT could also be ready to play against Ireland.
I see Oupa Mahoje named captain of the SA A side. Francois Venter is VC so they will definitely both start. Interested to see the make up of this side…they have a tough task against that Saxons side
