Sharks coach Gary Gold has named a 25 man travelling squad to travel to Wellington to face the Hurricanes on Saturday.

Two of the 25 will miss out on selection for the match, the team being announced on Thursday.

There are some missing names, like Pat Lambie and Dan du Preez, but there is good news. Both Willie le Roux and Paul Jordaan are on the flight, which means that both are fit and ready for selection this weekend.

  • Did I miss an important announcement because Lourens isn’t listed 😐

  • Adriaanse would be about the first name I would pick, so I can only assume he is injured.

  • I assume Beast is still the captain

  • No Adriaanse?!?!?!?!?!?!

    What’s going on?!

    @Hulk (Comment 2) : @Bokhoring (Comment 3) : Not good news at all.

  • There must be a reason why Adriaanse left behind. Glen Jackson as referee isn’t the worst thing, at least you know what you’re in for. Now, Craig Joubert reffing Lions versus the vile crusaders. They may think they’re lucky but he’s going to bend over backwards to eliminate the appearance of bias. If I was a lions fan that would scare the heck out of me

  • @Another Nick (Comment 7) : Laughable really ,the captaincy is so lowly regarded at the Sharks ,that Gold doesn’t deem it necessary to be announced.Probably have a game of Ching Chong Cha on the plane to sort it out.

  • What happened that Bosch and Botha are there ? I thought the rule was that players had to be in match day squads for four games. Not complaining, just curious.

  • Personally it would make sense to retain Beast as captain – for continuity and also what’s the point in having a different captain for play-offs?
    And maybe KD doesn’t want the captaincy armband? it does put immense pressure on a player.

  • @Lord Antebellum (Comment 12) : Bosch was in the original squad so the 4 game rule doesn’t apply and Botha was cleared, as an injury replacement I assume

  • @DuToit04 (Comment 13) : Beast proved to us that he is no captain. Short temper and bad behavior is not an example of what a captain should be. JPP did a much better job last week than Beast, much calmer and I think KD would be the best candidate personally. No way he would say no to the armband.

  • Ja well except for Adriaanse not being there I do think it’s the best possible 25 as Pat is seemingly still struggling with concussion.

  • @robdylan (Comment 17) : Now that’s the sort of news the Sharks could easily have added as a footnote at the bottom of their squad announcement….that and the news on Botha and Bosch – can the Sharks please employ an actual Sharks fan to run their PR.

  • @JD (Comment 21) : You’ll probably end-up being retrenched as soon as Teichman gets the job….he doesn’t strike as the type to cozy up to the media and fans – but, as long as we get the results we all crave, I guess the PR matters little.

    Sure is a ton more fun being a Sharks fan than a bulls/tsietas/streamers fan…Lions getting some fun for now, but no surprises anymore. For us, everyday unearths a new scandal, story, hiring or firing, or alleged early retirement of a yet unnamed Sharks player…on or off the field, there’s never a dull moment.
