YES YES YES!!! Can’t wait for the game to start!!!
Is that Boland 6 the ex Glenwood Adendorf,fantastic loosie played junior Boks was candidate for player of the junior World Cup series and then disappeared into the Bulls black hole
@The hound (Comment 2) : Yeh same one. Has signed for the Bulls again for next year though.
Finally a game broadcast on Sky Sports
@SheldonK (Comment 3) : was he in the same team as Kleinhans at school,
@The hound (Comment 5) : I feel like he must be a bit younger than Franna
@The hound (Comment 5) : I think Kleinhans is perhaps older. Kleinhans is the Kyle Cooper year. Think Shaun Adendorff is younger and his brother and Warren Whiteley older than Kleinhans and Cooper. But yeh testing my memory here.
@SheldonK (Comment 7) : just checked. Shaun is a year younger than Franna, so they could have played together.
Shaun’s older brother was Ian – a centre – but I think he was a good couple of years ahead.
Ian Adendorff matriculated 2006, Shaun in 2010.
@SheldonK (Comment 7) : think Kyle is one year older than Franna
@robdylan (Comment 9) : Yeh that Glenwood 2006 team featured guys like Ian Adendorff, Brian Shabangu, Dean Muir and Warren Whiteley was the captain
@robdylan (Comment 8) : I remember those two playing together,they and Brynand Stander were so highly regarded that Marcel was not even noticed throughout his school career.
@The hound (Comment 12) : To be fair Marcel was at Port Natal and they didnt exactly have a good side so very tough to notice a flank in a losing team. When he joined Collegians after school he got noticed quickly playing with good players.
@robdylan (Comment 10) : What’s the name of, and what happened to the guy who captained that Glenwood team,he played hooker.That was the first year they won the world schools cup in Japan.He had bok captain written all over him.
@JD (Comment 1) : I’m going to grab a beer now and enjoy the game!
Just as excited!
@The hound (Comment 14) : Dean Muir…was at the Valke but now has gone to play in the professional league in America
@SheldonK (Comment 13) : Agree but to put things in perspective,how remarkable a feat was it that Clyde Rathbone managed to captain the South African schools team from wing at Kingsway High.
Bet 95 % of all boys who ever played rugby in Natal couldn’t tell you the Kingsway colours
@Quintin (Comment 15) : Thats two of us
@The hound (Comment 14) : you not thinking of Shaun Malton?
@The hound (Comment 18) : Enjoy(insert beer emoji) <- Rob? 😀
Its gonna be interesting seeing AE and Wiliams as a centre combo especially wiliams at 13
@The hound (Comment 17) : Yeh that is still some feat as how he even got noticed is beyond me. Unless there was somehow a kingsway selector on the kzn panel that year for some reason.
@robdylan (Comment 19) : Oh yeh could be. he went to play in edinburgh if memory serves me correct
Very bad start by Ungerer. 1 useless kick and a very bad pass that almost cost us a try against us.
@SheldonK (Comment 22) :
Kingsway High was my neighbour school all through my years at Kuswag…
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 25) : “Neighbour” being a loose term…you were basically on the same plot of land 😉
Odd-one inthegarden opens the scoring on 10mins
@SheldonK (Comment 26) :
Well yes.. It was very close..
If we had an away afternoon game, we had to leave at about 10am to get there on time!!
Penalty conceded on the kickoff. Changing lanes in the maul. 22m out boland going for posts
7-3 sharks lead 14min
Ungerer takes so long before he passes,how can a scrumhalf play at that level and pass like that can he not learn from de klerk that a scrumhalf should sweep the ball of the deck
@robdylan (Comment 19) : Thanks Rob that’s the one.
I am very interested to know what will happen to Pat Lambie once he is cleared to play?
The squad announced for the Rugby Champs cannot simply be altered, and surely he can only be called up if there is another flyhalf injury?
Does that mean the Sharks can play him? And for how long? And will they, knowing that they could build some depth with Radebe and April?
Great break from odwa with nice handling results in try. Bosch adds the extras 14-3 sharks 17 min
Team seems very complacent. Struggling against 14
Who scored the first try
@John (Comment 36) : Odwa
Ungerer with his kicking is costing us any momentum
Scrum penalty 50m out. Bosch nails the kick 17-3 sharks 22min
Tmo inny might be in trouble
Good calls by the TMO’s.
How is Inny going ? Still at work so cant watch
@John (Comment 42) : Inny and odwa are fantastic. The rest appear lethargic. Marius vd westhuizen is having one of the best refding displays that we’ve seen in years
@jdolivier (Comment 40) : If they penalised anyone for that, the game is going in the wrong direction. TMO’s made the right decision.
@Quintin (Comment 44) : Agreed.The question marius asked also indicated that he didn’t see anything in it.
Unlucky for that kick by Inny not going out. He’s looking really good so far.
Great strength shown from andre esterhuizen. Tmo to decide if try
@jdolivier (Comment 45) : So far, Vos has made good calls as TMO and Marius is doing just as well.
Score : Sharks 22 Boland 3
Try esterhuizen. Great offloading again from forwards and backs. 22-3 sharks 27mins. Bosch hits posts misses conversion
@Quintin (Comment 48) : There is flow in the game. The entire officiating staff deserve kudos for the way they are handling this game. Vos also doesn’t watch 7mins of replays which is good
Terra off with an injury, Deysel on.
@Quintin (Comment 52) : Hope it isn’t setious. Mtembu is highly underrated
Ungerer is not having a good game at all. Offloading at the wrong time, passing either too low or too high and just kicking the ball away aimlessly.
@Quintin (Comment 54) : We need reinach back. Ungerer and claasens are not the answer for the new fast paced running game
Bonus point try chilli. 40m advanced trough 2 malls. 29-3 sharks 38min
Got to run. Last meeting for the day 29-3 ht.
Glad Sharks have bonus point before half time. Now to close it out.
@Quintin (Comment 54) : @jdolivier (Comment 55) : Reinach is also no speed merchant when it comes to passing, I think its more of a ideology change, maybe get Charl McLeod back to show them how its done
this looks all right
We really need a scrumhalf…..and e centre to partner Andre.
Heimar not even in the game. Must be honest Ruan Botha has not impressed me once since joining the Sharks.
Really feel for Terra, that knee has been a chronic issue….good luck Terra!!!
Anyone watching the game? i see Boland scored to make it 29-8
@SheldonK (Comment 62) : Yeah, thus far the 20mins in the 2nd half I keep on asking myself “Wtf happened ” We are not playing like we did in the 1st half at all. Boland just scored again. In the corner. Conversion to come
@Quintin (Comment 63) : Eish hope we dont tank this…
Conversion came back off the upright. 13-29
Boland have scored 10 points in the 2nd. We have 0.
Just as I said that, Hanco Venter scores from Keegan offloading superbly to HW who then passes inside for Venter to score next to the posts.
13-36 Sharks
April came on for Inny before the try btw.
Keegans work rate on defense is great, again.
Venter getting the ball away to the backline much faster than Ungerer, general passing is also more consistent. No passes on the ankles or above the shoulders thus far.
Sharks on the 5m, won a penalty, going for line out.
Marais scores with the lineout maul. April misses conversion. 13-41 with 2mins to go.
Boland scores a consolation try under the posts. Sharks attack and Venter held up over the try line. 20-41 FT
So once again Sharks do all their playing in the first half and just play the scoreboard game in the second.
@Quintin (Comment 69) : April was on for Bosch, not Inny
@JD (Comment 75) : It’s worrying to me.
@robdylan (Comment 76) : Thanks, missed that on my way to the fridge, made assumptions. 😕
@Quintin (Comment 78) : no worries. Couple of guys had pretty average outings today, Curwin being one of them. He was no worse/quieter than Sithole, Williams, van der Walt though.
Others were down right BAD…. Deysel and Mjekevu come to mind.
@robdylan (Comment 79) : Sithole looks slow. A bit overweight perhaps?
@robdylan (Comment 79) : Well I didn’t even notice Mjekevu was on the field, only noticed Deysel on the scrum cam, so I’m with you on that. Though Inny was good in the 1st half. Ungerer, I don’t know if we should continue with him tbh, this is CC, not SR and he didn’t do well at all.
Great line from William Small Smith for that try.
@Quintin (Comment 82) : We should snap that guy up ,he’d be perfect for our game ,Weimar does absolutely nothing for me,Small Smith and Esterhuizen could be a better combo than Jordan and Andre
@The hound (Comment 83) : I’m sorry to say, but Heimar just proved again today that he’s nothing more than a Currie Cup level player. We need to look elsewhere.
@Ben (Comment 84) : We did sign the SA u20 captain.
@The hound (Comment 83) : @Ben (Comment 84) : Heimar is not a 13 so don’t judge him to much on today’s performance. Personally I think Heimar is a good 12 but the big problem for him is Andre is really showing just how wrong JW was about him. Andre is putting in some huge performances and is not easily going to give anyone a chance to take it from him.
@JD (Comment 86) : Heimar has had many chances and he just doesn’t have it ,I let Quentin fool me into thinking that Small Smith was playing for the Cavaliers and only realised that he wasn’t when I watched the Cheetahs game.
I still think he would make a great partner for Andre.
@Ben (Comment 84) : We should get James hall when he gets back, kings owe us a few favors.
@The hound (Comment 87) : I think Francois Venter would make for a perfect partner for Andre.
@coolfusion (Comment 88) : Never heard of him.
@JD (Comment 86) : Nah, I don’t buy that. Like I said, he just proved AGAIN. Like Hound says, he’s had chances, but he just ain’t cutting it.
@Ben (Comment 90) : Scrumhalf for kings till recently. Left for France in CC season he’s back at the end of CC. Strong boy and very electric.
@The hound (Comment 87) : Sorry mate, I was already watching and talking about the next game
I do think Small Smith would be a good partner for AE, they would combine perfectly. I’m starting to think more and more of AE after every game he plays. He’s come a long way in a short amount of time. He will be pushing for a Bok spot very soon. I hope we can keep hold of him for a couple of years. It won’t be long before a French/Irish or Japanese team comes looking for him.
@coolfusion (Comment 92) : This year’s u20 Bok scrummie as well.
I saw he was returning for Super Rugby but it is also reported that he signed a 3 year contract with Oyonnax. The SARU Kings contracts were only for 8 months unless they changed it later.
