Five of the Springboks that arrived back in the country on Sunday have been released to their Unions for this weekend’s round of Currie Cup games.
Malcolm Marx (Lions), Lwazi Mvovo (Sharks), Rudy Paige, Trevor Nyakane (both Bulls) and Bongi Mbonambi (WP) have been released to their Unions to specifically benefit from a weekend match in the Currie Cup. Unfortunately for Mvovo, the Sharks have a bye this weekend and will once again see no action.
With all the Springboks back in the country, the following players have specifically been asked to rest and not take part in the weekend matches: Faf de Klerk (Lions), Juan de Jongh (WP), Oupa Mohoje (Cheetahs) and Vincent Koch (Pumas). The rest of the squad, as I understand, can be selected this weekend, with the final decision of inclusion lying with the Unions.
The squad for the remaining fixtures of the Rugby Championship will be announced in the week.

As always strange call by them. So Lions could pick Jantjies but not Faf?!?!?!
@JD (Comment 1) : Think Jantjies ,Mapoe, Whiteley have Jap contracts so not available for CC anyway
@SheldonK (Comment 2) : also maybe Elton going to be culled?
@Kabouter (Comment 3) : If he is then would mean Lambie gets called up. As far as im aware if Elton not with Boks he is required to be in Japan. I think if Lambie called up then Jantjies will be bench option and Steyn released.
@SheldonK (Comment 4) : on a selfish note I am hoping this is not the case as Pat needs gametime before being thrown into test rugby again. But last week’s horror show makes me very worried
@Kabouter (Comment 5) : Would be seriously stupid to include Lambie in the home tests..which means he probably will be. Boks have nothing more to lose so should only play local players in this game, let the overseas guys go back to their clubs and play there.
@SheldonK (Comment 2) : yea think thats about the list
@SheldonK (Comment 2) : OK that would make sense.
See the Bulls decide the option to play their two Bokke. Apparently no time to practice with the team so coach decided to not select them.
@JD (Comment 9) : Yeh i thought Paige would have played.
