Sharks Currie Cup Squad announced
Sharks team vs Reds
The Sharks have made five changes to the side that embarrassed themselves – and their supporters!! – by copping a whallop from the Jaguares last weekend.
Teichmann to bow out in September?
The rumour mill has churned out this one: Gary Teichmann will not renew his contract as CEO when it comes to an end in September.
Hail the Beast!!
Some people say legends are born and others that they are made by the sweat of their brow. I’m not going to debate that and I’m not going to pick a side…I am, however, going to pay tribute to someone I consider a living legend: The Beast!
Sharks hit high in a “puppet on a string” season
“Love is just like a merry-go-round
with all the fun of a fair
One day I’m feeling down on the ground
Then I’m up in the air.”
Sandie Shaw sang the ditty “Puppet on a String” – featured in the movie “Apocalypse Now” – that contains these words. They sure could be a Sharks Supporters anthem!! The Sharks completely outplayed the Lions at Ellis Park last night to thump them 42-5!!
Akker out for three weeks
Akker van der Merwe received a three week ban for his role in the fisticuffs in Durban on Saturday, leaving the Sharks very thin at hooker.
Sharks youngsters dominate Baby Bok squad
In recognition of the dominant Sharks u19 squad of last year, the 34-man Junior Springbok training squad contains 14 Sharks players.
And now for something completely different…
I know this is a rugby site…but I thought I would just write a little something about that other ball sport…you know, the one with the hard white ball and bats! Local side the Dolphins have a home semi-final tomorrow night and will be aiming at reaching the Momentum Cup final.
Kiwi whistleblower in Durban
New Zealand referee Mike Fraser will be the man with the whistle at King’s Park when the Sharks take on the Bulls.
Louw banned for three weeks
Sharks Centre Marius Louw copped a 3 week ban after a clothes line tackle in the closing stages of the Sharks game against the Rebels. […]
Important win as Sharks down Rebels
The Sharks completed an important, if at times scrappy, win over the Melbourne Rebels to find their way back into the South African conference race. Losses for the Stormers and Bulls opened the door for them and they stepped through to regain some lost ground in what is turning out to be a very open conference race.
Sharks vs Rebels
This evening sees the Sharks take on the Rebels in an important game for the men from the coast. After two poor games against South African opposition, the Sharks will want to get a good result against their first Australian opposition of the year.
Und sie schrien nach KLOPAPIER (Yes, it has to do with Peyper)
So that piece of Greek…or more accurately, German…in the title line means: “And they called for toilet paper.” It is a line from a German parody song that sings of a subject matter that is also the profanity that many Sharks supporters will be screaming out upon hearing the news that Jaco Peyper has been appointed as referee of the coastal derby between the Sharks and the Stormers this Saturday.
Akker swops out to the other Sharks too
The Sale Sharks have announced that they have signed another of our local Sharks, this time hooker Akker van der Merwe. Although this was not unexpected after the whispers that Sale was going to sign a host of South Africans from these shores, it does make this a pretty bleak day for Sharks rugby.
Sharks make it 2 out of 2 (and 10 out of 10)
The Sharks defeated the highly talked up Blues from New Zealand at (what fans are surely hoping will continue to be) their home fortress, King’s Park. They claimed a 26-7 bonus point win, ultimately prevailing in convincing fashion by 4 tries to 1.
