Saders pip Hurricanes – hand Chiefs conference win
The Chiefs have claimed the New Zealand conference title thanks to the Crusaders’ unimpressive 25 – 17 victory over the Hurricanes in Christchurch tonight. The game saw both teams scored three tries, and ultimately it was the accurate boot of Dan Carter that proved the difference between the sides in a tense clash. The Crusaders needed a bonus point win to retain a chance of overhauling the champions, who play the Blues tonight in the final Super 15 round. But the Crusaders were lucky enough to even win the match, let alone launch a bid for four tries, only nailing the victory with a 79th minute try. […]

The South African Rugby Union announced on Tuesday morning that it will be trailing a new set of experimental laws that have been developed by the International Rugby Board (IRB) that is expected to result in better continuity in matches and also reduce the risk of serious injury.
