After a two break caused by Covid the Sharks travel to Cape Town for the semi-final against WP. Sean Everrit has selected what must be close to the strongest side the Sharks have on their books.

Semi-final Time!
Fassi back on the bench
Merry Christmas everyone. There is actually a Sharks game this Sunday.
Aphelele Fassi makes a welcome return to the Sharks team that was soundly beaten at Ellis Park. However the Sharks pack will have to front up this Sunday against the Cheetahs for any of the back line players to shine.
Jaden Hendrikse and Jeremy Ward will start at 9 and 12 respectively. Hard working Ruben van Heerden makes a welcome return at 4 and Jonny Meyer will swap the number 3 jersey with youngster Michael Kumbirai (who got a tough schooling from Dylan Smith last week).
[…]Time to face the Bulls again!
On Saturday at 19h00 the Cell C Sharks will host the Vodacom Bulls at Jonsson Kings Park. Update kickoff time has changed to 14b00.
Currie Cup Time
Friday night is the kickoff of this years Currie Cup (Covid edition)
The Sharks will be captained by Jeremy Ward when they meet the Pumas at Kings Park on Friday 19h00. […]
Fassi out for 3 months
The Sharks have been hit by a number of high profile injuries even before what’s left of the 2020 rugby season kicks off. Aphelele Fassi picked up a shoulder injury during training last week and will be out of action for at least 3 months after undergoing surgery. Really sad news as many of us were really looking forward to again seeing Fassi ghosting through defenses.
Bosch back at 10
Curwin Bosch is back from injury, which should mean that Boeta Chamberlain will be available for the Sharks U/21 team for the final against the Bulls
Andre and Thomas start against the Bulls
Andre Esterhuizen and Thomas du Toit have been called up to start against a desperate Bulls team who may face relegation if they loose by more than 7 points. Curwin Bosch is still unavailable so Boeta Chamberlain gets another chance after a very impressive Currie Cup debut.
New Shark Andisa Ntsila have been selected as loose forward replacement.
Sharks take on the Lions without Bosch
Sean Everitt has catapulted Boeta Chamberlain straight into the starting team to replace Curwin Bosch who is out injured due to a lower back sprain.
Majola, Vermeulen, Mohamba and Fassi starts against the Cheetahs
Sean Everitt has made a few changes in his squad for the crucial match against the Cheetahs at Kings Park:
Majola and Schoeman swaps places in the starting team and bench, Phepsi moves to 6, Vermeulen starts at 7 and Stringer drops out of the squad. Evan Roos (who still played for Paarl Boys last year) comes into the squad as loose forward replacement.
In the backline Nohamba and Wright swaps jerseys and so do Smith and Fassi.
Sharks team to face Pumas
The Cell C Sharks team to play the Phakisa Pumas in Nelspruit has been announced.
Coach Sean Everitt has opted to make only one rotational change with Phepsi Buthelezi starting at 7 and Jacques Vermeulen shifting to the bench. […]
Smith and Fassi swap for WP
Sean Everitt has kept the team that got trounced by the Kwas intact, except that Fassi and Smith swap places in the starting team and on the bench. Every one in the squad will have to lift their performance dramatically if the Sharks want any hope of beating a WP team that was really strong in especially the scrums. Hopefully the disaster last Friday will serve as a wake-up call.
Super team vs. Griquas
Sean Everitt has picked a team full of Super Rugby experience for Friday night’s game. JPP slots back in at 13 next to Ward at 12. I am looking forward to seeing the loose trio of Stringer, Vermeulen and Mtembu taking on the Kwas.
It seems the old 22 player limit has now been removed in 2019.
A season by numbers
Hi, Sharks fans
First off, well done to all of the players, coaches and administrators. That was an incredibly tense final for me, especially when we were down at half-time, after having spurned a penalty right under the poles. Safe to say we can also thank Sergeal Petersen for charging Rob Du Preez’s place-kick early as it allowed Rob a second shot and a chance to calm his nerves a bit. […]
Teams for the final
JLDP start in the blindside flank position while Paul shifts to open side. Fassi gets another chance to show off his pace at 11. Stringer and Vermeulen feature on the bench, and Van Wyk is back in the team on the bench.
Dobson is starting the very under-rated Stander at 10 for WP. Willemse shifts to 12.
