Lukhanyo Am will captain the Springbok Gold team in Saturday’s trial match. He will be joined by fellow Shark Sikhumbuzo Notshe in the starting lineup with Dylan Richardson, James Venter, Curwin Bosch and Werner Kok on the bench.
Sanele Nohamba, Hyron Andrews and Ox Nche all start in the Green team captained by Siya Kolisi, with Thomas du Toit, JJ van der Mescht, Manie Libbok, and Jeremy Ward on the bench.

Schalk Brits will captain the Boks against the Pumas at Loftus. This is probably the last chance for some of these players to convince Rassie to take them with to Japan. I would expect Rassie to start his first choice team against Japan in the Boks’ only other World Cup warm-up match.

Six Sharks have been called up for the Bok training squad while Dan du Preez and Ruan Botha were not considered due to injury.

Some people say legends are born and others that they are made by the sweat of their brow. I’m not going to debate that and I’m not going to pick a side…I am, however, going to pay tribute to someone I consider a living legend: The Beast!

In recognition of the dominant Sharks u19 squad of last year, the 34-man Junior Springbok training squad contains 14 Sharks players.

What a shambles of a game against Wales. The players looked jaded, disinterested and seemed to have had one foot on the plane to Monaco for the World Rugby awards. I think I’ll just end my comments on the Wales game by saying there is a lot of work to do before next year’s World Cup and that Rassie will have to make some bold calls with regard to selection and game plan.

The final game of the year for the Boks and it’s against a Wales team who have become something of a hoodoo for the Bokke, having claimed victory over the Green and Gold in 4 of the last 5 Tests between these 2 teams. Prior to that, Wales had only ever claimed 1 victory over the Boks since the sides first met on the famous tour of 1906. The current records show 28 victories for the Boks, 5 for the Welsh and one draw. The Prince William Cup will be the prize on offer for the winner on Saturday.

The Boks take on a confident Scotland this Saturday at Murrayfield at 19:20 (SA time), with the Scots having thrashed Fiji 54-17. Winger Tommy Seymour was in particularly good form, bagging a hat-trick of tries. The Boks are 5th in the World Rugby rankings, with the Scots one place back in 6th. Home ground advantage will definitely be a factor as the Scots have only lost once at home in the last two years, and that to the All Blacks who had to dig deep to win 22-17.

The Scotland side to take on the Boks has been named, with all 3 South African born squad members named in the team. WP Nel will start at tighthead prop while Josh Strauss and Allan Dell will warm the bench. In addition, outside centre Huw Jones, will be another familiar face, having played for the Stormers. […]
The Springboks take on France in the 44th meeting between these two teams.
The Boks have won 26, lost 11 and there have been 6 draws. […]
Van Zyl gets another start for the Boks at 9. Is this guy honestly the next best scrumhalf in Rassie’s opinion? PSDT moves back to 5 with Thor starting at blindside. Whiteley starts at 8.Rassie has two locks in Lood and Snyman on the bench. Nkosi will hopefully continue where he left off against England from 14.
Interestingly Thomas du Toit is preferred over Trevor Nyakane as the reserve loose head. Esterhuizen makes the bench in place of the expected Kolbe / Aplon.

It’s that time of the year again, time to haul out the Bok jersey and, after the recent performances against the All Blacks, we can do this with pride. […]
Hi, Bok fans
We are in for a rich helping of international fixtures in the coming weeks. […]
Hi, Bok fans
I would like to start by saying I am proud of the Boks. It has been many a long year since I have felt this way about them. […]
Will this Bok team be able to live up to the hype after beating the All Blacks in an epic clash two weeks ago in Wellington, New Zealand?
Only time will tell and that time will be Saturday at 17h00 when they play the Wallabies in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth in the penultimate round of this year’s Castle Lager Rugby Championship.
