Anybody got a spare lock?
As the Currie Cup season approaches, the Sharks find themselves in a real pickle when it comes to fit second row resources. With both Anton Bresler and Pieter-Steph du Toit out injured for the bulk of the season, there’s a mad dash going on in the background to find enough available locks to allow a decent matchday complement for the upcoming campaign. […]

Where to from here?
The Springboks return home after what can only be described as a failure of an away leg of the Tri Nations, and even though every single supporter out there expected them to lose, we didn’t quite expect it to be quite as bad. […]

Sharks to back Bresler
Every cloud has a silver lining, so they say and it seems that, with the unexpected departure of Gerhard Mostert to France, something that we have been clamouring for for the longest time looks set to happen; the Sharks will look within their youth ranks to replace the departing lock forward. […]

Worms’s French move in doubt
The latest news on the unfolding Stade Francais financial crisis is that they look set to offload some of their big names in an attempt to balance the books – this as a group of investors may have come together at the 11th hour to save the club. […]
Mostert linked with Stade Francais switch
Sharks lock Gerhard Mostert – one of the real heroes of their campaign over the last few weeks – has appeared on the French Top 14’s inbound transfer list for next season. People reading this list may well assume that the big second-rower has indeed committed to joining Stade Francais ahead of the new European season. […]
Sharks player ratings v Bulls
Saturday’s important win at Loftus turned out to be one of those special performances from the Sharks and the team showed a synergy and common purpose that we’ve seldom seen this year. Let’s attempt to give individual ratings, even though doing so may risk detracting somewhat from a great team performance. […]
Pride and passion aplenty
It was billed as the swansong of a golden Bulls generation. This would be the last time the light blue army would get to see the likes of Bakkies Botha, Victor Matfield, Danie Rossouw and Fourie du Preez on their beloved home ground. On top of that this match also marked the century of Bulls caps for the hardman Bakkies Botha. This was effectively a knock out game and the Bulls are notoriously difficult to beat in that type of game, even more so at Loftus. Surely the Bulls with their momentum of six consecutive wins and homeground advantage would prove too much for the Sharks who had stuttered their way towards the end of the Super rugby season. Somebody had forgotten to read that script to the Sharks. […]
