The Sharks held their end-of-season awards ceremony last night, with likable front-ranker Coenie Oosthuizen perhaps a somewhat unlikely recipient of the coveted “Player of the Year” award. […]

Coenie crowned as Sharks celebrate improved season
Enkosi, Ta Odwa!
The Sharks have announced that Saturday’s Currie Cup game against Western Province will serve as a tribute to faithful servant Odwa Ndungane, likely to start for the 249th (and last) time in a Sharks jersey. […]
Welcome back Koegies!
The Sharks have this morning confirmed the signing of former age-group lock Gideon Koegelenberg on a 2-year deal. […]
Sharksworld chats to Marius Louw
We had a good chat with Sharks centre Marius Louw, fresh from making his Super Rugby debut for the team against the Bulls on Friday night. […]
Bloody awful weekend
There really wasn’t a lot to get excited about this weekend if you’re a Sharks fan, with the Bulls enjoying somewhat of a mini renaissance and beating our team twice in the two fixtures played. […]
Massive quarter-final challenge
The rugby gods giveth and those same gods taketh away and Sharks XV coach Paul Anthony will certainly feel that he’s being made to pay a heavy price for last week’s bounty. Gone are any vestiges of Super Rugby experience from the team named to face the Blue Bulls in Sunday’s SuperSport Challenge quarterfinal and with injury further adding to selection woes, Anthony has been forced to name a very inexperienced side indeed. […]
Big guns fire for Sharks XV
The Sharks XV (a Super Rugby side in all but name last week) recorded a big 52-10 win over Free State in their final SuperSport Challenge round robin match on Friday. Paul Anthony’s team clicked early and often, scoring eight tries in a victory that secured a knockout place. […]
Sharks XV to take no chances
It seems the Sharks are bored of the international break already and will take advantage of any opportunity to get onto the pitch. Friday afternoon’s must-win Supersport Challenge match against at Free State thus could not come at a better time. […]
Sharks XV make their move
A very credible 28-all draw in tough conditions against the table-topping Griquas side on Thursday afternoon saw the Sharks XV move into second spot on the SuperSport Rugby Challenge central section log. […]
Leopards double just the tonic for Sharks XV
Andre Esterhuizen scored two first half tries to help the Sharks XV to a vital away victory over the Leopards – their second over these foes in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge this year. […]
Big Andre back in action
Paul Anthony’s Sharks XV head to Potchefstroom this weekend to play a must-win SuperSport Rugby challenge fixture against the Leopards, bolstered by the inclusion of regular Super Rugby centre Andre Esterhuizen. […]
Sharks XV turn the screws
Captain Odwa Ndungane led from the front, scoring a hat-trick of tries on Saturday afternoon as the Sharks XV hammered the Griffons by 50 points in Clermont. […]
Sharks XV in township action
While Super Rugby may not be happening for the Sharks this weekend, that doesn’t mean the Supersport Rugby Challenge won’t carry on and the Sharks XV return to the Sugar Ray Xulu stadium in Clermont township on Saturday for a clash against the Griffons. […]
Going to watch rugby the Middle Earth way: Version 2.0
Ok so it took a bit longer than planned to get started with this one but hey rather late than never:
As it’s been a while since I ventured to Welkom to go and watch a game at the Noord-Wes stadium (or HT Pelatona stadium as it’s known now) I phoned the Griffons Rugby Union to enquire about ticket prices and availability. I was told that entrance is free and you can sit where you find a seat. As to the do’s and don’ts of what can be taken into the stadium the very friendly lady replied: “you can do what you want, not really but do what you want”. Not one to disappoint people, that’s exactly what I did. […]
Cheetahs setback for Sharks XV
The Sharks XV suffered an agonising last-second loss to the Cheetahs in Ballito on Saturday in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge, with the visitors nailing a penalty on the final hooter to claim a 19-21 victory. […]
