A promising start: Sharks vs Lions
My sons and I headed to Woodburn Stadium on Friday night, together with half the district, curious about many of the new faces in the Sharks jersey. We were hoping to see some promising signs from the Sharks before the start of a brand new Currie Cup season… and we were not disappointed. […]

Have you ever seen the rain (comin’ down on a promising game)?
If you don’t count yourself among the Loftus faithful, the northern fortress can be inhospitable venue at the best of times. Get caught in the wrong team’s colours and it can turn downright hostile. The same apparently applies when rain is bucketing down on the stadium. […]

What are your suggestions to John Smit for the Shark Tank?
A couple of weeks ago the Sharks played their Currie Cup semi-final match against the Cheetahs in front of a near empty GROWTHPOINT KINGS PARK stadium. Maybe this was not the most successful season the boys have had in recent years, but it certainly also was not the worst season that they have had in recent memory either. The 8th position the Sharks managed on the Super Rugby log, missing out on a play-off position, was the worst the Sharks have done since 2010 when they ended 9th on the log, but that year the Sharks also had stadium attendance of over 35 000 for the semi-final against the Bulls (in torrential rain) and were at just about full capacity for the for the final against Western Province. And this was a mere 3 years ago. […]

Eden Park awaits
Jean de Villiers and his Springboks accomplished something no other Springbok teams were able to do in the last 48 years when they beat Australia 38 – 12 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on the weekend. The Boks scored four tries, picking up a valuable bonus point away from home, with the Wallabies unable to cross the Springbok try-line for the first time in 12 years. […]
